BOB COLLUM & THE WELFARE MOTHERS (UK) Twisted Lines & Mixed Up Rhymes 1.My Little Hurricane 2.She Hates Me 3.Behind the Bottle 4.Devil In Details 5.Knockdown Dragout |
"Bob Collum is the King of England " Het album "Set the Stupid Free" (zie previous cd reviews) was onze eerste kennismaking met Bob Collum, the Tulsa to Tulse Hill Troubadour, die nog steeds het regenachtige London verkiest boven zijn geboorteplaats Oklahoma. Met dit EP- tje duikelt de brave man op een erg leuke manier in de klassieke country & western thema's : love / hate, heavy drinking, devils, domestic sparring and the occasional hurricane. "My Little Hurricane" heeft een erg hoog Buddy Holly / Dave Edmunds gehalte, " She Hates Me", a not - love song, en "Behind the Bottle" zijn country klassiekertjes in wording done with modest and touching style. "Devil In the Details" is the Beatles Go West .....with Allan J. Kelly / steel guitar with one foot in Nashville and the other somewhere on the Astral Plane, "Knocktown Dragout" een prima country / rockertje dat er geen doekjes om draait ...I'm tired of you and you're sick of me. Met andere woorden : Bob Collum & the Welfare Mothers ( Allan J. Kelly - steel guitar, dobro, vocals, Nevil Kiddier - bass, mandolin & vocals en Paul Quarry - drums & percussion) make a cool noise about joy and sadness. Bob Collum & the Welfare Mothers feel bad on "Twisted Lines and Mixed Up Rhymes" so you can feel good. Profiteer van dit unieke aanbod ! (SWA) |
